Continental Xynotal Downhill Soft 29 x 2.40 MTB Tyre
The Continental Xynotal is a gravity tyre developed specifically for hard, dry and slightly loose terrain. Its fast, densely arranged tread provides numerous contact points with the ground, combining dependable traction and cornering grip with lower rolling resistance than a more open mud-focused pattern.
This 29 x 2.40-inch version combines Continental’s versatile Soft compound with the extremely robust Downhill casing, making it ideal for downhill racing, bike-park riding and demanding gravity terrain.
Specialist Tread for Dry Conditions
The Xynotal tread is optimised for firm and slightly loose surfaces. Its closely spaced central tread creates a stable contact area for efficient rolling and controlled braking, while the shoulder blocks provide support and grip through corners.
It performs particularly well on dry hardpack, compact soil, rocky trails and bike-park surfaces. For deep mud or very soft ground, a more open tread pattern may provide better self-cleaning.
Continental Soft Compound
Continental’s Soft compound provides a balanced combination of grip, rolling performance and durability. It offers dependable traction for gravity riding without the faster wear and higher rolling resistance associated with the maximum-grip SuperSoft compound.

Extremely Robust Downhill Casing
The Downhill casing is Continental’s most protective gravity construction. Its extremely robust carcass provides high levels of support, stability and resistance to impacts, punctures and cuts.
The reinforced construction is intended for demanding downhill and bike-park use. It is heavier than Continental’s Trail and Enduro casings but provides increased protection for aggressive riding.
Tubeless-Ready Construction
The tyre can be installed tubeless on a compatible rim using suitable tubeless tape, valves and sealant. A tubeless setup allows lower pressures for improved traction and comfort while reducing the risk of pinch punctures.
